As a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic, there are some uncertainties surrounding our sailing holiday itineraries for the coming winter season. We are ready and willing to deliver our usual mix of stunning sailing, sunshine and vacation cheer, however it’s not clear which islands will be open to us for our itinerary planning. At the moment it’s doubtful if we will be able to offer our usual multi-island trips as many islands are still closed or requiring quarantine and this makes it difficult to island hop between countries, however we are all hopeful that this situation will ease in the coming months so that we can offer some variation.
We welcome you to reserve your space aboard with us for only $250 – this can be reassigned to any future trip if you decide to cancel for whatever reason – and we implore you to make sure that any flight reservations are changeable – it’s probably wisest to arrange flights into a major international airport or flight hub in the event that you may need to re-route your inward or homeward journey. See the Travel tab for our recommendations.
During Our Trip
No-one comes on holiday to get ill, and more so during these times of global pandemic. Each of you will already have been tested prior to boarding a flight from your home country, and will have been required to take precautions during your travel. Our boats will have been sanitised prior to your arrival to eliminate any contamination from prior guests.
We believe that, in a small space such as a sailing vessel, should someone be carrying the virus when they arrive, it is highly likely that it will be transmitted to other passengers. We ask that you are extra careful during your travel time, and indeed we request that you self isolate from the moment that you take the test, which would need to be negative for you to be permitted on the flight… In this way we can minimise the risk of bringing the virus on board our vessel.
Unless we are mandated to by local government rules, we do not plan to insist that you wear a mask on board, however you should of course wear one if you feel more comfortable, and be prepared that masks are mandatory in most public places ashore.
If you have any concerns about our procedures or would like to recommend measures on board that would make you feel more comfortable, I would be grateful to receive them.

Choosing a CABIN
This is a Club Ibis trip and we will be chartering (hiring) up to 2 boats for this trip – Francois will Skipper the second boat. Charters are subject to specific regulations set out by the charter company and as the Skipper and organiser, Sam Bartlett undertakes to ensure that our group meets its obligations under the charter agreement. This includes payment of the security deposit for the boat and any toys we hire. Our chartered boat will meet the cabin needs of the guests who book and will be a sailing monohull of between 46 and 48 feet, built in 2018/19. Our usual guarantee of a bed to yourself still applies and details of the boat will be provided as soon as they are finalised.
The prices below reflect the sizes and facilities of the cabins on each boat; please make your selection on the Booking Form.
|Boat Name (s)||Cabin Type||Price (Euros)|
|TBC||Double Cabin for Sole Use (max 8 available)||€2,895|
|Double Cabin with Ensuite for Couple (max 4 available)||€4,295|
|Twin Cabin for Sole Use (max 2 available)||€2,495|
|Single Bunk in Shared Twin Cabin (max 4 available)`||€1,795|
You should ensure you have a good travel policy that covers you for flight delays and lost/delayed baggage – this is particularly important if any part of your travel includes a LIAT or Air France flight! During this sailing holiday we will never be more than 12 miles from shore and coastal sailing like this is usually part of the standard travel cover for most policies; please ensure that your travel policy doesn’t specifically exclude this.
Expenses & CURRENCY
The currency in Italy is the Euro. Make sure you do have a supply of Euros; the ATM’s are not as frequent as you might think! Credit cards are accepted in most bars and restaurants but not all.
We provide bottled drinking water on board and we carry fruit juices for breakfast time. You will need to provision with any soft drinks, alcohol and mixers you need when you arrive and there are supermarkets in Pozzuoli where you can do this. Guests often club together and have a kitty for these costs, but you may prefer to buy your own.
You should budget for between €15 to €25 for a main course in a restaurant when we eat out plus drinks and service charge. There’s no doubt that eating out in the islands is expensive but you can pay as much for a bad meal as an excellent one. We promise to take you only where we’ve had a local recommendation!
Unless otherwise stated, sailing holidays with Yacht Ibis are participatory and you should expect to get involved. We don’t carry passengers! This will include:
- Preparing the boat for sailing
- Hoisting sails, pulling ropes, winching, steering and generally sailing the boat
- Putting all the ropes away at the end of the day
- Helping to keep the communal spaces tidy and clear of personal belongings
- Taking a turn on clearing away dishes after a meal
This is all part of living aboard a sailing boat 🙂
Hopefully any other questions you may have are covered in our frequently asked questions here or in our Pre-Arrival Booklet which can be downloaded here.
Booking TERMS and Conditions
These can be found at this link and you should be familiar and comfortable with them before making a booking, thank you.
If you prefer not to use a travel agent, Flight Connections is a great starting point to find out about flights into NAP, Italy’s Naples airport. This link will help you identify which airlines connect from your nearest airport. Naples is well served by International and low cost flight operators from most places within Europe.
Getting to the BOAT
Naples airport is a 20 minute drive from Pozzuoli where the charter yacht base is, and a taxi will cost between 28 and 30 euros each way. We will advise of the exact location as soon as we have this information. Please ensure you provide your arrival information as soon as you can and keep us updated of any changes. Pack light, and using a lightweight, collapsible bag with wheels if possible. Hard suitcases will need to be left in Pozzuloi, we simply have no room to store them!
ARRIVING and Departing
This is a 2 week charter in peak season and we have access to the boat from 5 pm on the 18th July until 9am on the 1st August. You should aim to arrive anytime after 5pm on the first day of your trip so give yourself time to settle on board and then we’ll go for a crew dinner ashore nearby. We are obliged to be back in port for the evening of the 31st July so if you need to jump ship that evening you can, otherwise we need to vacate cabins early the next morning.
There are numerous options for extending your holiday in Pozzuoli and nearby Naples, or further afield in Amalfi Coast if you’re coming from further afield than Europe.
